A-Rod ties mark with 13th, 14th homers

Yankees third baseman equals Major League April record
By Dawn Klemish / MLB.com

Everyone is expecting to see an Alex Rodriguez homer these days, and on Monday, he didn't disappoint. The Yankees third baseman wasted no time, either, clubbing his 13th home run of the year during his first at-bat.

Then, in his final at-bat in the ninth, A-Rod hit a two-run shot for No. 14 of the season.

Although the hits couldn't lift his team to victory, the Yankees lost to the Rays, 10-8, they still went a long way in the record books.

The first long ball tied the AL record for April homers. The second homer broke that record and tied Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols for the MLB record for April home runs, set last season. A-Rod also became the fastest player to hit 14 homers, with Monday being his 18th game of the season.

The 31-year-old Rodriguez's 4-for-5, three-RBI night included his 33rd and 34th RBIs of the month, a career high. He's one behind the April record of 35, set by Juan Gonzalez in 1998.

Boston's five homers sink Yankees

Record four straight help Red Sox complete three-game sweep
By Ian Browne / MLB.com 04/23/2007 1:45 AM ET

Manny Ramirez put the dramatic power show in motion, hitting a towering drive over everything in left-center field and onto Lansdowne Street. Then it was J.D. Drew's turn, and he belted a blast over the Boston bullpen in right-center field and into the bleachers. Lowell put one over the wall in left to tie the game, and Jason Varitek was the fourth member of the unlikely quartet, hitting a liner into the Monster Seats to put the Sox in front in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.

Carter Nets 46, Share of History in Win

Wow...am I too lucky today? When is the last time we can see such great games like this-both superstars recorded triple-doubles; let alone A-Rod's "walk-off gland slam" happened on the same day.
Jason Kidd and Vince Carter both recorded triple-doubles as the Nets beat the Wizards in overtime on Saturday night.

A-Rod rescues Yanks

Rodriguez hit a game-winning grand slam off Chris Ray in the bottom of the ninth inning to sink the Baltimore Orioles, 10-7, and set off a raucous celebration at Yankee Stadium.

By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com(04/07/2007 7:00 PM ET)

What a game! I just have a gut feeling there must be something big going to happen. When Jeter unexpectedly walked, and Bobby was hit by a pitch right on the left knee, the bases were loaded, two out, in the bottom of nine inning. It's a no-way-out situation for Chris Ray. A-Rod somehow swing with great confidence under such enormous pressure. He didn't disappoint the audience like me and fiona who waited until the dramatic victory.

About coffee

The Bean Belt
A coffee plant prefers rich soil and mild temperatures, with lots of rain and shaded sun. It grows best in a band around the middle of the world, bounded by the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer, known as the Bean Belt. Soil, climate and altitude affect the flavor of the beans.

Red Cherry to Green Bean
What we call a coffee bean is actually the seeds of a cherry-like fruit. Coffee trees produce berries, called coffee cherries, that turn bright red when they are ripe and ready to pick.

Coffee seed types
There are two main species of the coffee plant, Coffea arabica being the older one. Coffee is thought to be indigenous to south-western Ethiopia, specifically from Kaffa, from which it may have acquired its name.[10] While more susceptible to disease, it is considered by most to taste better than the second species, Coffea canephora (robusta). Robusta, which contains about 40–50% more caffeine, can be cultivated in environments where arabica will not thrive and probably originated in Uganda.
